When I was approached to design Zingy & Zen in St Albans, the vision was simple create a family-focused space that combines high-energy fun with calm, creative areas, all while feeling stylish, practical and commercially strong.
The design centred around intentional zoning, carefully balancing vibrant play areas with quieter retreat spaces to support both children and parents. From circulation and lighting to materials and layout, every detail was considered to create a seamless experience that feels energetic yet calming truly zingy and zen.
The result is an immersive venue where children can play, create, dance and explore, while adults enjoy a space that feels modern, comfortable and thoughtfully designed. More than just a play centre, Zingy & Zen is an experiential environment built around flow, wellbeing and connection.
